Aharon Amar (Hebrew: אהרון אמר‎), is a former famous Israeli footballer who made his name at Maccabi Haifa. His storied career at the club put him for a long time in the history books as the most prolific goal scorer to ever wear the green and white when he scored a league record seventeen goals in the 1958/59 season (thirty years later, Zahi Armeli, tied this feat).

Footballing career

Amar was discovered by Haifa, when word of mouth got around that a local kibbutz had a new immigrant that was an amazing footballer. After scouts saw him play, he was immediately signed and enjoyed immediate success with the greens. This led to Amar being called up to the Israel national football team as well where he was part of the historic win over their Yugoslavian counterparts.

Amar's career suffered a huge blow when he broke his leg while working at the port in Haifa.
